Ignite Seattle
I went to the Ignite Seattle mini-conference last night in Capitol Hill with Kevin and Lilia. Basically, it’s a bunch of 5 minute (strict maximum) talks about anything and everything geeky. Some highlights include “How to roll your own patent application”, “Hacking the technical interview”, and “A pseudoscience guide to geek dating”.
The venue was packed, so for the first set of talks, we were standing near the back of the room; but after the break, enough people had left that we could steal some stools from nearby bar tables to sit on. There were definitely a good amount of free-software junkies and hippies in attendance, but also a solid bunch of software engineers and other full-time-employed geeks.
It was definitely a fun experience…something I’ll have to do again in the future.
