Eric G just got a new MBP at the Apple Store UTC yesterday. He's still getting it situated.

The multi-touch is kinda fancy, but I *hope hope hope* they open up the API and don't cock it up. It's *not* ready for primetime. Right now you cannot even turn it off. The configurability is exactly equivalent to the non-multitouch (tap to click? y/n drag to scroll? y/n), but there are no options at all related to e.g. three-finger-swipe. It's brand new and isn't even shiny yet, but I hope they do the right thing.

A followup on your theme... In WebKit (both Safari and Vienna), this happens: http://joe.definitelynotsafe.com/tmp/Picture%204.png
When I resize the text field, the button stays glued to the lower right corner of the text box. :)

The big deal is the heat: http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/28/apple-macbook-pro-penryn-tests-a-little-more-speed-a-lot-less/

Mainly, I just wanted to wait until they shipped a revision since I knew it was coming. I probably mentioned to you that I almost got hosed when I bought my PowerBook G4 back in the day because Apple released revisions exactly 14 days later. Luckily, I was just barely in the return window and got the better machine.

Now I'm just waiting for the bloody thing to ship.

Thanks for the compliment on the theme. It's certainly not my design work (see the footer), but a lot of my tweaking work; especially the blog page.

Nice.

The update didn't super impress me. The multi-touch trackpad is about the only really neat thing. The chip upgrade is miniscule (though Ben's fanboying about it), and the HDD's a bit faster... but it's not really all that compelling.

Eric's gonna buy one this weekend. We're all gonna go down to the Apple store at UTC and give him moral support, then help him set it up proper.

Also your theme is still blazing hot.
